This 2 day GWO Slinger Signaller / Sling Banksman course is available at our well-equipped, diverse training facility. Our GWO Slinger Signaller course combines learning elements within a safe and realistic training environment, ensuring dynamic training delivery techniques. Upon completion of the GWO Slinger Signaller module (SLS), you will be aware of the risks and hazards encountered when working with Slinger Signalling within the offshore wind industry. Furthermore, you will be equipped with the key ‘know how’ to be able to control and mitigate associated risks and hazards.

The GWO Slinger Signaller training module provides participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to appropriately respond in the event of a hazardous situation and to increase their safety through proper use of personal protective equipment, emergency equipment, procedures and safe’ workmanship’.

The aim of the GWO Slinger Signaller training module is to enable offshore personnel to support and care for themselves and others while slinging, signalling and managing lifts / loads in the offshore wind environment, by possessing the required knowledge and skills to conduct assigned tasks safely and efficiently. During this course you will take part in a range of practical training scenarios which utilise a broad range lifting accessories and slinger signaller training aids to ensure that you are fully prepared to work safely in offshore and remote environments.

Our training facility is equipped with both a knuckle boom crane and a davit crane which are utilised to provide relatable, blended learning, helping you to practically apply the underpinning theory.

Unlike other Slinger Signaller / Slinger Banksman courses that are available on the market, this course is tailored for Offshore Personnel and provides relevant training bespoke to the Offshore Environment.

Summary:

Overview of topics to be covered in the course;

  • Attaching and detaching the load to and from the crane lifting attachment
  • Initiating and directing the safe movement of the crane, including multiple slinger signallers during limited or blind lifts
  • Adhering to their role and responsibilities during the lift
  • Conducting visual pre and post inspection on lifting accessories and load
  • Handling of lifting accessories
  • Ensuring safe lift-off and lay down of the load
  • Slinging/rigging various types of load, based on weight, centre of gravity, shape and size
  • Carrying out generic routine lifts in accordance with the lift plan
  • Complying with instruction/procedures set up by the employer to manage lifting
  • Ensuring that equipment is properly used, maintained and defects reported

  • WINDA I.D
  • Completed medical
  • D (Passport or driver’s license)
  • Over 18
  • Work Boots
